A study by the Florida Legislature found that many insurance claims turning into lawsuits, especially in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, might be causing homeowners insurance premiums to rise. Claims that end up in court are much more expensive than those that are settled without a lawsuit.
